Botanical stuff

This picture became a souvenir of a recent trip to Hawaii.  I snapped a photo of this little beauty and came home to paint it.  Crazy colors!
I grew this in my greenhouse!
If you stare at this too long you can begin to see some wacky spaceship.

So many colors-so little time!

No one told me that sleep deprivation was going to be part of painting.  I used to be more balanced in my approach toward art.  I had produced a body of work in acrylic and oil and fancied myself an artist, but nothing could have prepared me for watercolor!  I took one class and I was ruined for normal.  Im obsessed!  Once I begin painting I lose all track of time.  Hours go by and I dont realize what time it is or how long I have been painting.  Ive started a work in my studio at 10:00pm and realized a "minute later" that it was 4am. I wonder if DaVinci ever painted by candlelight?  Thank goodness for electricity.

It is a struggle to find good quality studio time.  I dont want to isolate myself in the studio and become unresponsive to my family, but all those colors call to me!  You just never know when you will paint something truly amazing.....
